Give yourself some 'me time' and discover the benefits of Reflexology.
Relax, release tension and support your wellbeing.
Thank you for visiting my website. I’m Alison Sloan, a fully qualified and insured Reflexologist, and a member of the Association of Reflexologists. Originally I qualified with Scottish School of Reflexology and have over ten years experience in the profession. Recently, I decided to return to practice and completed a Practitioner’s Diploma in Clinical Reflexology at the Complementary Therapy School, credited by University West of Scotland and I will now be offering treatments at Diva in Lanark on a self employed basis.
If you’re curious whether Reflexology is right for you, the best way to find out is to try it. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, improved sleep, or simply some time for yourself, Reflexology can be a gentle and effective way to support your overall wellbeing.
I look forward to welcoming you at Diva on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesday. You can book Reflexology treatments directly with me HERE.
Reflexology is a gentle and relaxing complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet which are believed to correspond to organs and parts of the body. These reflexes are believed to influence the body’s natural energy, so by working on these points using a thumb and finger walking technique any signs of imbalance are worked on to stimulate energy pathways to flow freely again and may help bring balance to the body. Our feet have thousands of nerve endings, and by gently stimulating them, reflexology may help calm the nervous system and encourage deep relaxation.
In today's world, excessive stress, feelings of overwhelm, emotional ups and downs, busy days or health challenges can disrupt the natural harmony between body and mind. This imbalance may lead to physical and emotional symptoms such as tension, anxiety, sleep difficulties, or trouble concentrating.
Reflexology helps rebalance the body and restore harmony, creating optimal conditions for healing. While it does not directly treat specific illnesses or conditions, Reflexology supports the body holistically enhancing overall wellbeing and potentially improving the ability to cope with health challenges.
Please allow 90 minutes for your first treatment. We will start with a consultation to discuss your health and medical history, ensuring the treatment is tailored to your needs. I will explain how Reflexology works and what to expect. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks and get comfortable on a treatment couch or in a reclining chair called a Lafuma. Loose-fitting clothing is recommended. The treatment time is 60 minutes.
It is advised to drink a few glasses of water and keep hydrated this allows your body to settle. Try to avoid strenuous activity or alcohol. Your body will be in a calm, restorative state, so a quiet restful evening will support the full benefits of the session.
Everyone responds differently. After your first session, I will suggest a plan based on your needs and how your body reacts. Some clients prefer occasional sessions for relaxation, while others benefit from regular treatments for ongoing support.
Reflexology has increased benefits with the more treatments you have.
Reflexology does not diagnose medical conditions, and while it offers a supportive, complementary approach to wellbeing, it is not a substitute for medical care. If you have any concerns about your health, it is important to consult your GP. During a treatment, I may find areas of congestion or imbalance; any findings will be discussed with you at the end of the treatment.
I am trained in several therapies, including Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, and La Stone Therapy, with over 15 years of experience. Currently, I focus solely on Reflexology, as I believe it offers meaningful support for wellbeing. Massage therapies are available at Diva.
I accept card, bank transfer and cash payments on the day of treatment.
As a registered member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), some private health insurance providers may cover Reflexology. Please check with your provider. I can provide invoices and receipts on request.
